About the House Rules

The following House Rules are designed to make sure your stay—and the stay of every crew member who comes after you—is safe, comfortable, and stress-free. Please take a moment to review them before you arrive.

Crash Pad House Rules

RULE #1: Cleaning up after yourself – This might seem obvious for some, but for others (usually first-timers) this must be said.  You are responsible for cleaning up after yourself.  This includes wiping down the bathroom areas every time you use it, same with the kitchen, or other shared spaces.

Our goal is to always make each crash pad feel like a hotel. With that said, here are some examples: there should be no toothpaste marks left in the bathroom sink, no hair on the floor, no dishes in the sink or even on the counter once you leave the kitchen.  Please don’t leave pillows on the family room floor, if your food explodes in the microwave (b/c u “forgot” to cover it) then it is your responsibility to wipe the entire microwave down immediately.  If you cut bread on the counter, it is your responsibility to wipe the crumbs. And if you wipe the crumbs onto the floor, then it is your responsibility to vacuum or mop the floor, all to be done immediately in case another tenant wants to use the facilities after you.  Your mom doesn’t live here, and despite what your living standards have been in the past, there is a new level of standard when sharing a crash pad.  Tenants that do not follow these rules will be asked to leave.

Kitchen – Refrigerators, Cabinets & Food – As a CrashPad is NOT a permanent residence, careful consideration must be taken in the kitchen. It is a good idea to label your food and other items whether it be in the refrigerator, freezer or pantry.

Most of the kitchen space will be allocated with your bed # and each person is responsible to keep their area clean as well as clean-out their expired products.  Another tenant has a right to throw away any products that are not stored properly (and may attract critters) and/or leave a residual smell.  The landlord also reserves the right to have the space cleaned out periodically if tenants are not monitoring the area on a continual basis.

  • Do not leave dirty dishes in the sink.
  • Do not leave dishes drying on the counter. Please use a dish towel to dry them manually and put them back into the cabinet immediately after use so that the kitchen counter remains tidy. If you use the dishwasher, you must unload the dishwasher.
  • Wipe down counters and table tops.
  • The trash should be taken out each time you leave the crash pad for a trip, even if it is ½ empty. Please do not leave the trash for someone else. Remember we are going for a hotel-like feel, and you would never want to walk into a hotel room and see a ½ full trash can. Trash days are posted in each crash pad and must be brought to the curb on those days, but can still be placed outside in the large bin on non-trash days.

Bathroom:

  • Spray and Squeegee the bathroom shower every time you are done taking a shower.
  • If you have long hair, please clean the shower drain. If you have short hair, and see it somewhere, please also clean it up. Please check the surrounding floor as well.
  • Keeping the toilet seat clean.  Your fellow crash pad mates would appreciate it if you used a clorox wipe after using the bathroom.
  • Take your towel and shower caddy with you back to your bedroom every time you leave the bathroom. No personal items are to be left in the bathrooms in between uses.  Personal shower caddies must be used, and then stored in your personal bedroom space.  No random shampoos, conditioners or soap are to ever be left in the shower area, and same for tooth brushes, tooth paste and mouthwash in the sink area.

Shared Spaces:

  • Do not leave your clothes, shoes, bags or other personal belongings in the living room or shared spaces.
  • No jackets on the back of kitchen chairs, or on the side of the sofa. Would you see someone’s jacket lying around when you walk into a hotel?

RULE #2: Quiet Hours – YourCrashPad.com has ‘Quiet Time Hours’. 9 PM – 8 AM, so please be mindful. Sounds like a buzz from a completed load of laundry tend to travel. If the sleeping person’s room is sharing a wall with a bathroom it would be considerate for you to use the other bathroom, rather than to create an uncomfortable living situation.

RULE #3: Storage Space – There is very little room for storage at the crash pads. Your space should be contained to your ½ of the closet in your individual bedroom.  Nobody may store extra stuff in the hallway or first floor shared closet spaces.  Since nobody is allowed to live at the crash pad, there should never be more than 1 suitcase when you stay. A few items left in your ½ of the closet or drawers are allowed.

RULE #4: Washer & Dryer Etiquette – There is very little room for storage at the crash pads.

RULE #5: NO Smoking – Not allowed, not even in the unfinished basement area (yes, people have tried & we always find out). Please don’t try, you will be asked to leave immediately.

RULE #6: Parking – Parking permits are required, and your landlord can help you obtain one if needed.

RULE #7: Rent payments – Prompt payment is always expected and penalties may apply for late payment. Payments are due by the first of the month, and since all payments are done electronically, there is no grace period. On the 2nd of the month, your rent is considered late. Please schedule send so you are not charged a $25 late fee, or more. After the first 7 days, an additional $25 per week will be added on for each additional week your payment is late. You will be asked to vacate if payment is not made by week # 3.

RULE #8: Door Code –  Do not give your door code to anyone. It is personalized and no one except you should know it.

RULE #9: No overnight guests

RULE #10: AC/Heat and Electronics – When leaving, please turn down/up AC/Heat to approx. 71 degrees. Also, please make sure all personal electronics are turned off and unplugged.

RULE #11: No candles

Rule #12: Phone conversationsPlease keep in mind that no one wants to hear your phone conversation. Please be considerate of others and take calls in a private place.

Rule #13: Respectful of OthersIt is expected that everyone should be respectful of others and not conduct unlawful or illegal acts while at the CrashPad.
